Jackie Baker is Abbott’s Pensions Manager. She joined the Pensions Team in November 2024. We asked Jackie to tell us more about herself.
Tell us about your background
I started my career in pensions consultancy, qualifying as an actuary 15 years ago. Since then, I’ve held several positions where I helped companies run their pension schemes effectively and ensured they had the right processes and risk controls in place to protect people’s retirement savings.
What are you hoping to achieve as Abbott’s Pensions Manager?
When we retire, we all want to be able to afford to enjoy our retirement without worrying about how we are going to live. I want to help Abbott’s employees understand the benefits of being a member of one of our pension schemes, and provide them with the tools to plan for their retirement and manage their savings to achieve their retirement goals.
What about life outside Abbott? How do you relax?
I have two young children, as well as a springer spaniel and two rescue kittens, so I don’t get much time to myself, but when I do, I enjoy crafting which helps me to unwind after a busy day.
